Water conditions can vary significantly from one property to another, particularly when villas rely on groundwater or local water sources. For Villa Alexandria in Gunung Salak, Bali, CV Aqua Filtrasi Bali installed a customised three-stage water treatment system designed to address several water-quality concerns before the water is supplied throughout the property.
The system combines manganese filtration, activated carbon filtration, and water softening, with each stage performing a different role in the overall treatment process.
Stage (1) Manganese Filtration
The first stage uses a Manganese Filter to treat the incoming water before it moves to the next filtration process. This stage helps reduce iron and manganese, which can contribute to brown or dark staining, discolouration, sediment, and deposits on bathroom fixtures, tiles, plumbing, and other surfaces. Reducing these minerals at the beginning of the treatment process also helps improve the condition of the water entering the following filtration stages.
Maintenance:
The manganese filter requires regular automatic backwashing to remove accumulated contaminants from the media. The manganese media should also be inspected periodically and is generally recommended for replacement approximately every 2 years, depending on the incoming water quality and usage.
Stage (2) Activated Carbon Filtration
After manganese treatment, the water passes through an Activated Carbon Filter.
Activated carbon helps improve the general characteristics of the water by reducing unwanted odours, colour, and certain organic compounds. This provides an important polishing stage before the water enters the water softener. The result is water that is cleaner and more pleasant for everyday use throughout the villa
Maintenance:
The activated carbon filter requires regular automatic backwashing to help maintain effective water flow and filtration performance. Activated carbon media gradually loses its effectiveness and is generally recommended for replacement approximately every 2 years, depending on water quality and consumption.
Stage (3) Water Softener
The final treatment stage is the Water Softener, which is designed to reduce calcium and magnesium responsible for hard water. Hard water can leave mineral deposits and scale on shower glass, taps, bathroom fittings, water heaters, plumbing, and other equipment that regularly comes into contact with water. By reducing hardness, the softener helps minimise these deposits, making bathrooms and fixtures easier to maintain while also providing additional protection for plumbing and water-using equipment.
Maintenance:
The water softener requires a regular supply of softener salt for the regeneration process. Salt levels should typically be checked and replenished monthly, depending on water consumption and hardness levels. The softener resin should also be monitored over time and will generally require replacement after approximately 3–5 years, depending on operating conditions and water quality.
A Filtration System Designed Around the Property
Rather than installing the same standard system at every property, CV Aqua Filtrasi Bali selects and configures filtration equipment according to the water conditions and requirements of each installation.
At Villa Alexandria, the three treatment stages work sequentially:
Stage (1) Manganese Filter → Stage (2) Activated Carbon Filter → Stage (3) Water Softener
Together, these stages address different water-quality problems and provide improved water throughout the villa while helping reduce staining, odours, discolouration, hardness, and scale-related issues. Regular maintenance is an important part of keeping a multi-stage filtration system operating effectively. CV Aqua Filtrasi Bali provides ongoing maintenance services including salt replenishment, media replacement, system inspections, water testing, and general servicing.
